And for those of you looking for tips and ideas on raising rescue cats and dogs under one roof, its play time at the McMurtry Pet House! A big time favorite for Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt, and AJ our HMP - High Maintenance Poodle is hide and seek. Cat hides. Poodle seeks. We were not prepared for how clever cats are, or at least Artemis is. Her strategy that has helped her win more often than not, is to use camoflauge techniques as you see here. Well hidden in a white sink, Artemis avoided AJ for quite a few minutes, and was well prepared to switch from Hide and Seek to Tag You're It as soon as AJ started doing her Circus Poodle jumps to peer into the sink. No damage done to either pet, except for perhaps a little ego bruising as the Poodle intelligence took a back seat to the cunning cat tactics. Lately, they've switched to a game of pounce and swat and seem to keep score quite well. For every pounce the dog makes to ignite some energy into the sleeping cat, Artemis counters with at least 3 swats to the face. So the current cat:dog ratio is about 3:1. AJ seems to be closing that gap to 2:1 and should be getting some bonus points for avoiding the swats. She certainly has gotten great practice in the past four weeks! But no blood has been drawn!
